Saturday July 18th was the day for the fourth race in the Jim Russell Northern California Rotax Challenge hosted at Infineon Raceway this time with the Sprint Track Configuration. This track configuration was new to us in race conditions as last race here was in the wet. This configuration is very technical challenging and physical demanding since there is basically no straights and as a driver you are either braking, accelerating or turning. No time to relax what so ever. Once again the weather in the Wine Country showed itself from its best side with almost clear skies and sun.

Saturday June 6th was the day for the third race in the Jim Russell Northern California Rotax Challenge hosted at Infineon Raceway this time with the Reverse National Track Configuration. This track configuration was relatively new to us as we only had a few times to practice it. During the week the weather forecast was predicting rain, but once again the weather in the Wine Country showed itself from its best side with almost clear skies and sun. We had the base Kart setup ready as we had been on the track during the week as well as Friday evening to learn the new track as well as fighting an engine problem that we did not manage to solve resulting in a last minute engine swap.

Saturday May 2nd was the day for the second race in the Jim Russell Northern California Rotax Challenge hosted at Infineon Raceway this time with the Sprint Track Configuration. Unlike Race #1 the weather was not optimal for racing. It was windy and the rain was pouring down. We had been on the track for a test day before the race and had found an optimal setup for the kart. Unfortunately due to the rain nothing from this setup could be used.

April 4th was the season kick off race of the 2009 Jim Russell Northern California Rotax Challenge hosted at Infineon Raceway (National Track Configuration). The weather was beautiful for racing with blue skies and temperatures in the high seventies. The excitement was high for the team as this was the first time possible to see how well the hard physical as well as in-Kart training over the winter had paid off and how close we would be to the other teams. The objective before the season was a top 5 championship finish – a realistic but yet ambitious goal.

Viking Racing signs Sponsorship agreement with RLC Racing

It was announced today that RLC Racing will be providing data acquisition systems for Viking Racing for the rest of 2010 as well as the full season of 2011. The sponsorship also constitutes cooperation on tailoring the RLC Racing products even more for karting use.

Data acquisition has been a key element in becoming fast and it is still a very important part of Viking Racing’s program to shave off the last few tenths as well as ensuring a perfect chassis and engine setup. We have worked with different systems but have never been happy with what was on the market.

Race Report for Viking Racing, Kart #64. Redline Oil Karting Championship, Dixon, CA. Race #6 August

After a busy month with business travel in Europe as well as preparing two new karts from grounds up time was up for round 6 of the Norcal Rotax Championship. I had not had time to be on the track since last race, but the few other times we had run on the very physical track in Dixon we had done well so I was confident we could repeat that.

Race Report for Viking Racing, Kart #64. Redline Oil Karting Championship, Infineon International Karting Center. Race #5 July 25th, 2010

Literally just returned from the US Grand Nationals in Indiana time was up for the 5th race in the local NorCal Rotax Championship, which was run Sunday July 25th at Infineon International Karting Center. The track configuration was the narrow and technical Sprint configuration.

Despite not having much time to practice at this track configuration I was in shape from Nationals and confident we could do well. For the first time this year the field was big enough to separate the Masters and Masters Light drivers meaning we were only battling karts in our own weight class making things more equal.
